Rank & Style simplifies shopping by bringing our users unbiased, data-driven top ten lists of the best fashion and beauty products. Our top ten lists are created utilizing an algorithm that methodically researches and aggregates data from the stores, fashion blogs and style magazines our users trust. Each list captures the top ten items within a defined category (think skinny jeans, natural shampoos, running sneakers) to help users find the best products based on their popularity, quality, value, trendiness and “buzz” factor. Described as a trendier version of Consumer Reports and the BuzzFeed for fashion and beauty, Rank & Style was recently named ‘Best of the Web’ by InStyle Magazine. Science has never been so stylish!

1. What does a typical day look like for you?

Every day is a bit of a mix, which keeps us on our toes but also keeps things interesting. Between getting our content ready to go live each morning, meetings, strategy sessions, making lists, networking, more meetings, more lists, and working on marketing, design and tech efforts while building partnerships...each day is jam packed and a bit frenetic but never boring!

2. How would you describe your personal style?

Sarika: My style is a mix of sub-continental, minimalist, and preppy and tends to draw me to designers like Chloe, Tocca, Helmut Lang, Rag & Bone, Isabel Marant and Balenciaga time and again.

Pooja: I used to be a bit more “adventurous” but now, since I spend most of my time working, I am most comfortable and happy in a pair of Alexander Wang sweatpants and a t-shirt. I also love a good pair of JBrand Dark Skinny Jeans and anything by DV by Dolce Vita. I lived in their sandals this summer, their oxfords this fall and their black ankle booties are my new best friend. So I suppose my personal style is comfortable yet chic!

Sonal: Classic, urban, casual, carefree.

3. What are your favorite items in your wardrobe and why?

Sarika: Rag & Bone ripped jeans because they make even the most casual, simple or formal looks seem urban, cool and edgy.

Pooja: My Jono Hennessy (signature) purple glasses (can’t see without them), My Free People Skinny Cords  in army green (they fit perfectly and are so comfortable) and my Sorel Joan of Artic Boots . I especially could not get through this winter without them!

Sonal: Lately, my Helmut Lang coated skinny jeans...they go with everything and can be dressed up or down.

4. Do you have any style or beauty secrets to share?

Sarika: My skincare and makeup regimen is simple but something I follow obsessively: Clean with Cetaphil morning and night, apply Giorgio Armani Face Fabric  before I leave the house and use Aquaphor as eye cream before bed time, especially during the winter months. I also drink a shot of turmeric, honey and apple cider vinegar at the start of each day to keep my skin, body and mind feeling its best!

Pooja: These last few winters, dry skin has been a major issue for my face. A few months ago I got my hands on a tube of Josie Maran’s Argan Infinity Cream. I use it everyday - morning and evening and it’s made all the difference! It also has a million uses so I think we’ll be friends for many years to come.

Sonal: Coconut oil works miracles- it has so many amazing benefits for your hair and skin...I discover new uses for it every day.

5. How do you spend your "me" time?

Sarika: Hot yoga at Modo, exploring a new neighborhood by foot and ending the day with a taco and margarita.

Pooja: I don’t have a lot of “me” time, but when I do, I try to cross a few things off my (enormous) errands list, spend quality time with loved ones, and catch up on missed episodes of “Scandal”!

Sonal: I like to start the day with a run along the river, catch up with friends over brunch and a bloody mary, visit my nieces and nephews as often as possible, or go see my favorite bands in concert.

6. What is the most important thing you have learned through running your own business

Sarika: The power of confidence and humility! Believing in yourself day in day out is half the battle, and remaining humble despite your successes is what makes it all last...

Pooja: There are a lot of ups and downs, amazing days followed by days you start to doubt yourself and your efforts. I’ve learned you have to bounce back quickly. I always try to remember that tomorrow is a new day with a clean slate and has the potential to be Rank & Style’s best day yet.

Sonal: Success doesn’t happen overnight...it’s all about the journey, so make sure you really enjoy and have passion for what you’re doing.

7. What is your mantra?

Sarika: Passion fuels persistence, productivity and ultimately success so make sure you feel real, tangible passion for what you do every day. And drink a lot of water!

Pooja: Never put off for tomorrow, what you can do today. – a quote by Thomas Jefferson and words my parents encourage me to live by.

Sonal: Don’t die wondering, live in the moment and make every day count.
