Beauty: 6 Summer Scents To Try

Today Faith Pierce, our fashion and beauty contributor, is sharing some amazing summer scents to try. I love trying out new scents and summer is the perfect time to switch things up and go for a scent that is fresh and light. Do you have a signature scent or do you like to experiment with different fragrances?

Until recently, I was a one fragrance kind of woman. I never strayed from my beloved Chanel (a choice I still included in this post - it fit the theme all too well). Lately, I have been incredibly intrigued by scents and wanted to delve into and learn more about the word of perfume. After a lot of research (and some testing) here are a few I think would be perfect for summer. I’m not an expert, so I would love to hear what fragrances you love!

Balenciaga, Rosabotanica is a woody scent with hints of green, citrus, and rose. Rosabotanica is a fresher, sheerer version of it’s sister fragrance Florabotanica. It’s earthy and fresh, a perfect choice for summer.

Chanel, Chance Eau Fraîche is actually my signature scent. I have worn it for years and until recently it was the only perfume I could stand to wear - so I’m a little biased. It is woody and citrusy with floral and slight musky tones to it. The scent is very clean and crisp.

Giorgio Armani, Acqua di Gioia is probably one of the top scents that showed up during my research for “summer fragrance”. It is citrusy and aromatic with a very green and sweet undertone. Armani himself explains that the scent was inspired by holidays spent on islands and an escape into nature. The bottle’s shape is reminiscent of a water droplet.

Maison Martin Margiela, is green and woody with tones of citrus and musk. Many say that the scent has an aroma of greenery and the earth after rain - the ultimate summer smell.

Bobbi Brown, Beach is a close runner up to my coveted Chanel. The fragrance is sandy and floral with aromatic and salty undertones. When smell this I instantly think of long days spent on the beach with nostalgic hints of sunscreen.

Elie Saab L’Eau Couture has notes of white floral and almond with nutty and vanilla undertones. It is part Elie Saab’s Ready-to-Wear S/S 2014 collection and notes from the create list it as an “echo of sun-kissed femininity”. It is a soft and sweet scent for summer.
