Today's STYLE PROFILE features the stylish and talented clothing designer Erika Schrieber. The ERIKA SCHRIEBER collection of women’s ready-to-wear is designed and produced in the USA. The fit and silhouette of every piece is carefully created with the highest focus on quality, durability, and longevity and the 9 piece debut collection is contemporary while incorporating classic detailing and finishing.

My collection was the birth of necessity. I worked long hours and didn't have time to play dress up before work or the necessary happy hour that would sometimes lend itself to a long night out. Being an urban dweller, I wanted something metropolitan and structured, with enormous versatility, but still cool. Most importantly I wanted to wear designers that were manufacturing well-constructed garments here in the states. So I created a collection that addressed these unique set of challenges, because I knew I wasn't alone.

1. What does a typical day look like for you?
I have the luxury of working from my home studio. I'm deeply grateful for this every morning I painfully and groggily roll out of bed around 6:30 to a monstrous coffee prepared by my equally ambitious husband. I start the day by checking out WWD (Women's Wear Daily) and throwing on some gym clothes just in case I have a sudden burst of bodily energy that may take me away from work, but usually not. Meanwhile my mental to-do list for the day is churning. I pour another cup of coffee and work in quietude most days. Silence is a calming force for me. As a small business owner and a new designer, my checklist for each day seemingly compounds as each hour goes by and I have many hats I have to wear. Currently, my focus is on finalizing the Spring/Summer 2015 collection.

2. How would you describe your personal style?
I think there's real strength and elegance in simplicity and keeping things easy. But adding a dash of unexpected glamour in the form of exposed hardware or metallic extras. My uniform (when it's not scorching hot or bone-chilling cold) is jeans, a white tank and a blazer. I typically add some statement baubles just for fun. I gravitate toward pieces with enormous versatility, which I hope translates in my collections. If I can wear it almost year round with some styling updates, it's for me.

3. What are your favorite items in your wardrobe and why?
The black and white Nikki shift dress in the current collection is easy to wear and makes me feel super chic and put together. I can wear it to a rooftop happy hour or dress it up for date night. I also have a few jackets I can't live without which include a light camel colored Gucci blazer and the lounge sweater in the Fall collection - it's structured enough for a night out and soft enough to sleep in.
4. Do you have any style or beauty secrets to share?
I wish I did! I'm a quick hot shower and let your hair air dry kinda girl. But use {moisturizer} and a tiny spritz of Tom Ford eau de parfum. When I'm tight on time, glowing skin and a good scent is at the top of my list. When it comes to style, when it doubt keep the canvas simple and add a touch of your own personality.

5. How do you spend your "me" time?
"Me" time hasn't existed in my world for a while, but I'm sure one day it will. If I can set aside a solid hour to sit and reflect, that's exactly what I'll do. I also kick it with my dog, Pollo. Yes, chicken in Spanish.

6. What is the most important thing you have learned through running your own business?
Plan far ahead, but be flexible and patient. Have someone in your support system that will ground you. Have someone in your support system that you admire and will tell you the hard truth.

7. What is your mantra?
I have many, but right now "Believe in your fucking self." is the standout. If you don't, who will?
